XP Power introduces 150W/200W DC-DC converters with an ultra-wide 12:1 input range for a wide range of applications

     XP Power has officially announced two new baseboards cooled DC-DC brick converters with power ratings of 150W and 200W. The new RDF series modules feature an ultra-wide input voltage, covering 14-160VDC (rated at 72VDC). The product is suitable for applications that rely on multiple power sources or a single power source with large voltage variations, such as renewable energy, battery systems, industrial technology and railway applications. The RDF series is designed for harsh environment applications and operates in the temperature range from -40ºC to +100ºC, with overvoltage, overload and short circuit protection as standard.

     Packed in a compact half-brick package, the product measures only 61.0 x 57.9 x 12.7mm (2.40x 2.28x 0.50 inches), making it ideal for use in space-constrained applications. The integrated baseplate allows for a variety of cooling options for effective thermal management, which improves product reliability.

     Available voltages in railway applications vary globally and often require different power supply designs to suit each application. However, the ultra-wide input range of 12:1 eliminates this challenge, allowing the design to be deployed globally without modifying the power level. The design process for railway use is further simplified as all RDF modules fully comply with the requirements of the EN50155 transport standard.

     Both the RDF150 (150W) and RDF200 (200W) series offer single 12V, 15V, 24V and 48V outputs, with the RDF150 also including a 5V option. For applications where the load is a certain distance from the power module, including remote sensing, the voltage fine-tuning function is also included. In fact, in the -20%/+15% range, the voltage adjustment range is wider than many modules available on the market today.

     The product achieves 91% efficiency, provides remote on/off functionality, and consumes only 15mA in standby/suppressed mode. In addition to EN50155 certification, the product also meets EMC certification in EN50121-3-2 and EN61000-4-x, and ITE certification in UL62368-1.
