XP Power introduces Glassman's BQ series of high voltage DC power supplies for Oems, industrial and laboratory organizations

     XP Power has announced Glassman's BQ series of 10kW high voltage power supplies for Oems, industrial and laboratory organizations requiring controlled DC power from 0 to 15kV to 0 to 100kV. This fast response product has strict voltage regulation, line regulation voltage regulation is better than 0.005%, load regulation voltage regulation is better than 0.01%. In a master-slave configuration, up to five modules can be connected in parallel, generating up to 50kW of power.

     This 19-inch 7U rack-mount product combines the latest design topologies and operational features with proven reliability at an attractive price. The BQ series inputs are available with 208Vac three-phase as standard, but also with 200Vac, 380Vac, 415Vac and 480Vac options to meet global demand. At full load the efficiency is usually greater than 80%, and the ripple is usually less than 0.05%RMS of the rated output voltage.

     All modules are certified according to EN/IEC61010 standards and have the CE mark of the RoHS Directive. The product also complies with EN61000-6-4 conduction and radiation and EN61000-6-2:2005 immunity standards. Applications include ion implantation, additive manufacturing, electron beam welding, sputtering, vapor deposition and plasma sources.

     A key feature of the BQ series is that all modules are air insulated. Using air as the main dielectric saves fuel or seals, which means it is light weight, weighing under 40 kg, and easy to maintain and repair, thus reducing the overall cost.

     All modules can be converted between constant voltage and constant current modes by automatic conversion. This feature prevents overload, arcing and short circuits. The rear panel switch allows you to select either constant current or current trip mode. In addition, to manage the arc, the BQ series power supply has arc extinguishing and arc counting functions. The first function suppresses the high-voltage output for a short time after each loaded arc to help extinguish the arc. Arc counting prevents system or load arc problems from exceeding factory-set parameters. It works through the internal circuitry to calculate the arc that occurs within a given time, turns off the power if necessary to clear the fault, and then automatically restarts after a pre-set "off hold time."
