XP Power introduces the ultra-compact, high-efficiency ECH450 series of power supplies in either bare board or enclosed form

     XP Power has announced the launch of its new ultra-compact, high-efficiency, bare-plate or enclosed ECH450 series power supply. The ECH450 series has an output power of up to 250W when convection cooling, 450W when forced cooling, or 450W when using a closed model with an integral fan. It offers Class B conduction and radiation standards and is certified by ITE and medical safety regulations worldwide, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial, communications and medical applications. Including applications that require BF patient protection.

     With a power efficiency of up to 94%, the ECH450 minimizes waste heat, reduces operating costs and saves space. The product operates at full fixed power at ambient temperatures up to +50 ° C without reducing the rated power, and at half rated power at ambient temperatures up to +70 ° C. Peak load applications support up to 450W and average power up to 250W during convection cooling. The convection cooling rating makes this power supply ideal for medical device applications where noise is not desired, as well as industrial or communications applications, with less fan operation for increased reliability and minimal dust entry.

     The ECH450 series sizes an ultra-compact 5.0 "x3.0" pin with an ultra-thin 1.4 "thickness and has a universal input range that can be used worldwide. Available single output voltages are 12.0V, 15.0V, 19.0V, 24.0V, 36.0V, 48.0V and 54.0V. It also meets the EN55011/32 Class B conduction and radiation requirements with a large margin, allowing designers to easily integrate it and minimize the risk of system-level EMC certification.

     The product is available in a number of configurations, including a bare panel model without a fan or a module with an optional ventilation cover (-C). Products with integral fans can choose between a terminal fan (-EF) or a top fan (-TF) by choosing modules that ensure easy configuration and integration to meet the airflow requirements of the end device. The bare panel and vent cover (-C) modules include a 12V, 600mA fan power supply for remote cooling fans, and a 5V/1A backup power supply for all models.

     The product is certified to IEC60601-1 medical safety regulations and offers two patient-protected (2 x MOPP) input-to-output insulation which, together with the basic insulation of output to ground and low leakage current, ensures that the ECH450 power supply is suitable for floating body (BF) applications.

     In addition to the IEC, UL and EN60601-1 safety certifications for medical applications, the ECH450 series also meets the IEC, UL and EN62368-1 safety certifications required for industrial and communication applications, as well as the Class C input current harmonics, making the ECH450 series ideal for lighting and display applications.
