Xilinx expands its revolutionary Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC family

Xilinx has announced new additions to its award-winning Zynq UltraScale+ Radio frequency (RF) system-on-chip (SoC) product family with improved radio frequency (RF) performance and increased scalability. The new generation of devices builds on the success of the Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC base product family in multiple markets and supports all bands below 6GHz to meet the critical needs of next-generation 5G deployments. It also supports direct RF sampling for 14-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with sampling rates up to 5GS/S and 14-bit analog-to-digital converters (Dacs) with 10 GS/S, both with analog bandwidths up to 6GHz.

Xilinx's RFSoC product family is the industry's only single-chip adaptive RF platform that meets current and future industry needs. The product range now includes:

● Xilinx Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC Gen 2 (2nd generation) : This device, which is now available for demo and scheduled for mass production in June 2019, is not only in line with the timing of 5G deployment in Asia, but also supports the latest RF technology.

● Xilinx Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC Gen 3 (3rd generation) : Provides full support for direct RF sampling in bands below 6Ghz in the RF data converter subsystem, extended millimeter wave interface, and power consumption reduction of up to 20% compared to the base product family. The product will be available in the second half of 2019.

The new product integrates higher-performance RF data converters on a single chip to provide the broad spectrum coverage needed to deploy 5G wireless communications systems, cable TV access, advanced phased array radar solutions, and other applications including measurement testing and satellite communications. By replacing discrete components, these devices can dramatically reduce power consumption and package size by 50%, making them ideal for telecom operators deploying 5G systems for large-scale multi-input multi-output base stations.
