Xilinx introduces ADAS solutions to support BYD's next generation of commercial and passenger vehicles

     Xilinx announced that BYD, the leader in China's electric vehicle manufacturing industry, has adopted Xilinx's Zynq SoC L0/L1 front-facing camera Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) solution in the new generation of commercial and passenger vehicles released in mass production this year. As a result, it became the first Chinese automobile manufacturer in the Chinese market to adopt the Zynq ADAS solution and mass-produce it. Byd's launch not only creates a milestone for Xilinx's ADAS solution in the Chinese automotive market, but also a strong demonstration of Xilinx Zynq and Zynq MPSoC products' leadership in the automotive sector.

     Xilinx's ADAS solution, proven for a decade of safety compliance, provides BYD with an unprecedented lead in performance, cost, and power consumption. Among them, the new generation of models has added a rare crossover configuration such as LDW (lane departure warning), FCW (front collision warning), and PDW (pedestrian detection warning), so that its users have a higher level of safe travel protection. In addition, according to data from BYD's research and development department, compared with the original ADAS solution, Xilinx's ADAS solution can help BYD save more than 60% of the cost, while consuming only about 2 watts.

     Xilinx and BYD and their related partners have completed three years of investment and strategic cooperation. The new and highly competitive L0/L1 ADAS solution is completely designed locally in China, and BYD has its own intellectual property rights. This is another successful case of Xilinx accelerating local innovation and entrepreneurship in China.

     Without much fanfare, Xilinx actually has a deep and strong technical background in the automotive field. In more than 12 years, the company has supplied more than 160 million automotive chips to automakers and tier 1 suppliers, of which 55 million are ADAS chips. From recent deployments, Xilinx devices are being widely used by Tier 1 automotive suppliers to provide powerful processing power for their ADAS and autonomous vehicle camera and sensor systems.
