ePower™ IC improves power density and simplifies design at different power budgets

Following the earlier launch of the 100V and 35 A power class ics (EPC23102), EPC has introduced two new 100V power class ics with current ratings of 15A(EPC23104) and 25A(EPC23103). The three integrated circuits are capable of withstanding a maximum voltage of 100 V and integrate GaN half-bridge power levels with symmetrical FETs in half-bridge configurations, half-bridge drivers, level converters, power-up charging, and input logic interfaces.

The three integrated circuits are capable of withstanding a maximum voltage of 100 V and integrate GaN half-bridge power levels with symmetrical FETs in half-bridge configurations, half-bridge drivers, level converters, power-up charging, and input logic interfaces.

 

     In DC/DC applications, these devices can operate efficiently at high switching frequencies (up to 3 MHz) and provide higher performance and smaller solutions for 28V to 60V DC/DC conversion for computing, industrial, and USB PD 3.1 applications. All three devices come in a heat-enhanced QFN package, measuring only 3.5mm x 5mm, with a bare top for double-sided cooling and wettable sides. Its package-compatible nature allows customers to upgrade their designs to achieve higher performance or lower cost without modifying the board, thus easily meeting changing load requirements.

 

     In 32 V to 48 V BLDC motor drivers used in electric vehicles, robots, power tools, and drones, the newly pushed power stage IC operates at a small dead time (21ns) and 100 kHz frequency, resulting in improved system efficiency because the motor has less iron loss and vibration, and electrolytic capacitors are reduced or removed.

Integrated power devices are easier to design, lay out and assemble, save PCB space and improve efficiency. Designers can use these devices to design lighter and more accurate BLDC motor drivers, more efficient 48-V input DC/DC converters, higher fidelity Class D audio systems, and other industrial and consumer applications."
