u-blox introduces GNSS chips for wearable applications that combine ultra-low power consumption with high precision

     U-blox, a leading global provider of location and wireless communications technologies and services, has introduced a new ultra-low power GNSS chip, marking a major breakthrough in u-blox's efforts to create compact, high-performance location technology. The UBX-M10150-CC GNSS achieves a better balance of size, efficiency and performance and will help optimize the design of compact wearable devices such as sports watches and smartwatches.

     The UBX-M10150-CC meets the needs of wearable device manufacturers for highly precise positioning solutions that minimize power consumption and extend the battery life of the device. It uses the innovative LEAP (Low Power Precision Positioning) technology, allowing it to consume only 10mW. Compared to the previous M10 chip, the LEAP technology, combined with its intelligent adaptation to signal conditions, enables a 50 percent reduction in power consumption, which means that users can use the wearable for longer and without frequent charging.

     This ultra-low-power, high-precision chip has a very small form factor. The UBX-M10150-CC measures just 2.39x2.39x0.55mm, making it easier for manufacturers to design smart products to create more attractive and comfortable wearables.

     The UBX-M10150-CC is compact, yet feature-packed to enhance the user experience. Multipath mitigation also improves positioning accuracy, especially in complex urban environments where signals are often reflected. The chip even has a built-in swimming mode for open water, which is a boon for water sports enthusiasts who need activity tracking.

     The upgradeable firmware of the chip also provides additional benefits, as over time, the chip can add more new functions and features, thereby increasing the value of the final product. In addition, the product also supports Android and SUPL, so it is also very easy to integrate.
